Registrar demoted to receptionist: She refused to marry gay couples

A Christian registrar was demoted to receptionist because she refuses to preside over gay ‘marriages’ – and last night claimed she is facing dismissal.

Theresa Davies, 58, said she is being forced out of the £26,000-a-year job she loves because of her religious objections to same-sex civil partnerships.

Pope's gay edict gets spirit of the season all wrong

For, apparently, gay people threaten the planet in a comparable way to the destruction of the rainforest. I guess the idea is that if we all were gay, then we wouldn't be making any babies.

Yes, it's a bit like saying that if we all were to become celibate priests we wouldn't be making any babies either. Except that would mean the Catholic church has itself become a threat to the planet. OK, that's a cheap shot....

What Everybody Ought to Know About Same Sex Marriage

Marriage, as defined by the civil law, is currently available to same-sex couples in six countries, and parts of a seventh (but not at the national level in that country). The Netherlands was the first country to allow same-sex marriage in 2001. Same-sex marriages are also legal in Belgium, Canada, Norway, South Africa and Spain, along with two states in the United States: Massachusetts and Connecticut.

From May 2008, California allowed for same sex marriages, though Proposition 8 has overturned that right as of November 2008. In 2005, Spain became the first country in the world to recognize same-sex marriage (including adoption rights) on equal terms and under the same law.

In 1996, the United States Congress passed the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) defining marriage as a union between a man and a woman amongst other stipulations.

As of May 2007, twenty-six states have passed constitutional amendments explicitly barring the recognition of same-sex marriage, eighteen of which prohibit the legal recognition of any same-sex union. Nineteen additional states have legal statutes that define "marriage" as a union of two persons of the opposite-sex. The territory of Puerto Rico ratified a similar statute in 1998.

Nonetheless, some states are beginning to offer legal recognition to same-sex couples, whether in the form of marriage or as civil unions or domestic partnerships.

The states of Vermont, New Jersey and New Hampshire offer civil unions. Also, Oregon has domestic partnership laws that grant some of the rights and responsibilities of marriage. Maine, Washington, Maryland, and the District of Columbia grant certain limited benefits through domestic partnerships, and Hawaii has reciprocal beneficiary laws.

VIDEO: Stewart Slams Anti-Gay Marriage Prop 8

On Monday night, Jon Stewart informed Sonja Eddings Brown -- a Proposition 8 supporter who had appeared on Bill O'Reilly and claimed she isn't against gay people, just gay marriage -- that "Your gay friends hate you."

Proposition 8, an initiative that would rewrite the constitution to eliminate the rights of same-sex couples to marry, has garnered national attention as millions of dollars have been poured into television advertising. One donor, the Mormon Church, gave $25 million to ensure the measure passes.

I'm A Drag Queen Baby

A drag queen is usually a man who dresses (or "drags") in female clothes and make-up for special occasions and usually because they are performing or entertaining as a hostess, stage artist or at an event.

This is in contrast to those who cross-dress for reasons other than as a source of entertainment for others or transgender people who are not necessarily drag queens or cross-dressers but sometimes fit into those labels.

First Gay Erotic Film: "Boys In The Sand"

"Boy In The Sand"

"Boys in the Sand" is a landmark American gay pornographic film.

The 1971 film was directed by Wakefield Poole and stars Casey Donovan. "Boys in the Sand" was the first gay porn film to achieve crossover success and one of the earliest porn films of any stripe to gain mainstream credibility, preceding 1972's "Deep Throat" by nearly a year.

Produced on a budget of $8,000, the film is a loose collection of three segments depicting Donovan's sexual adventures at a gay beach resort community. Promoted by Poole with an advertising campaign unprecedented for a pornographic feature, Boys in the Sand premiered in New York City in 1971 and was an immediate critical and commercial success.

The film brought star Donovan international recognition. A sequel, "Boys in the Sand II", was released in 1986 but was unable to match the success of the original.

The film's title is a parodic reference to the Mart Crowley play and film "The Boys in the Band".

Meet A Real Transgender Women

Learn more Transgender

Transgender (IPA: /trænzˈdʒɛndɚ/, from (Latin) derivatives is a general term applied to a variety of individuals, behaviors, and groups involving tendencies that diverge from the normative gender role (woman or man) commonly, but not always, assigned at birth, as well as the role traditionally held by society.

Transgender is the state of one's "gender identity" (self-identification as woman, man, or neither) not matching one's "assigned sex" (identification by others as male or female based on physical/genetic sex). "Transgender" does not imply any specific form of sexual orientation; transgender people may identify as heterosexual, homosexual, bisexual, pansexual, polysexual, or asexual. The precise definition for transgender remains in flux, but includes:

"Of, relating to, or designating a person whose identity does not conform unambiguously to conventional notions of male or female gender roles, but combines or moves between these."

"People who were assigned a sex, usually at birth and based on their genitals, but who feel that this is a false or incomplete description of themselves."

"Non-identification with, or non-presentation as, the sex (and assumed gender) one was assigned at birth."

A transgender individual may have characteristics that are normally associated with a particular gender, identify elsewhere on the traditional gender continuum, or exist outside of it as "other," "agender," "intergender," or "third gender".

Transgender people may also identify as bigender, or along several places on either the traditional transgender continuum, or the more encompassing continuums which have been developed in response to the significantly more detailed studies done in recent years.

Hear her very interesting story.

This, is a Boy/Girl

I'm a G-I-R-L. Not a gay boy.

I realize this video marginalizes both more broadly construed transgender folks as well as gay FtMs. I didn't mean to do that at all, unfortunately I wanted to use words to express the ideas and those were the only words I had. I would never intentionally marginalized either groups, besides I think tranny fags are the best gay men out there!

Are You a "Cross Dresser"?

What the hell is "cross dressing" anyway?

Cross-dressing is the act of wearing clothing commonly associated with another gender within a particular society. The usage of the term, the types of cross-dressing both in modern times and throughout history, an analysis of the behaviour, and historical examples are discussed in the article below.

Nearly every human society throughout history has distinguished between male and female gender by the style, color, or type of clothing they wear and has had a set of norms, views, guidelines, or even laws defining what type of clothing is appropriate for each gender. Cross-dressing is a behavior which runs significantly counter to those norms and therefore can be seen as a type of transgender behavior.

It does not, however, necessarily indicate transgender identity; a person who cross-dresses does not always identify as having a gender different from that assigned at birth.

The term cross-dressing denotes an action or a behavior without attributing or proposing causes for that behavior. Some people automatically connect cross-dressing behavior to transgender identity or sexual, fetishist, and homosexual behavior, but the term cross-dressing itself does not imply any motives. However, referring to a person as a cross-dresser suggests that their cross-dressing behavior is habitual and may be taken to mean that the person identifies as transgendered. The term cross-dresser should therefore be used with care to avoid causing misunderstanding or offense.
