Writer of "Basic Instinct", "Showgirls" and "Jagged Edge' turns to God-

Remember Joe Eszterhas? He was the screenwriter of such films as 'Basic Instinct" (he was paid $3 million for the screenplay), he also penned "Jagged Edge', Showgirls' and several other screenplays. He also wrote a very interesting book entitled "The Devil's Guide to Hollywood: The Screenwriter as God!".

In the summer of 2001 Joe, his wife and children moved from Malibu to his hometown of Cleveland Ohio. Joe had been a heavy drinker and smoker most of his life, and a few months after the move to Ohio, Mr. Eszterhas found out he had throat cancer. After several operations that removed 80 percent of his larynx, Joe says one day while walking, he sat down and began to cry. And he prayed.(which he stated he had not done since his childhood)

He says that he then 'saw a bright light', and from that day forward he has dedicated his life to god and family.

Joe now has a book coming out on September 2 entitled: "In Crossbearer: A Memoir of Faith". The book is about Joe's life, and will be published by St. Martin's Press.

We wish Mr. Eszterhas and his family all the best. You can read more about Mr. Joe Eszterhas story. Fascinating article by David Yonke.
